Tiny kicks

About a week ago I started feeling something that I was thinking was the baby moving. This week I'm certain. I definitely can feel the movements getting stronger , more frequent and higher. Fun facts this week are that your uterus moves up and the baby's cartilage is turning into bones.

Nursery

I've been tossing around nursery ideas for awhile now. I wanted to do a Dick and Jane themed room, then I found there is a Dick and Jane line of fabrics. They are super cute, but I had no idea until I got my quilt squares in the mail. Pictures don't due them justice. Since I'm not a quilter one of my friends from school and I are going to make one together. I've been searching google images for ideas and have a few good ones. Here is a peek at the squares. Hopefully once I borrow my grandmother's sewing machine we can get busy at making the quilt. I also want to do a bumper and coordinating skirt. Boyds- I'll bring one of each of the squares to Thanksgiving so ya'll can see them live :)

Are you a bumgenius?

So after hours of research on the internet and talking to friends, we've made a decision on the cloth vs disposable debate. We're going with the cloth and as needed disposables. You would not believe everything that's out there now for cloth diapering. And actually it's only a decision until our baby is 12 pounds when the X small diapers will be too small. From talking to friends this seems like an achievable goal especially while I'm still at home and during the summer. And honestly these things are so cute, during the summer Baby Boyd may only be wearing a diaper. I only ordered 6, I'm ordering in waves so that the sticker shock isnt that bad. I'm going to wait to know the sex to order the next set, since they have some cute colors other than white. Well I'm excited I got these in the mail today, so I'd thought I'd post. :)

Cute Quotes

Since I can't really report on any cute things my baby does yet, I can keep you updated with all the cute things my kids at school say about the baby or my belly. Mostly my belly.
Now that they know there's a baby in my belly, they say some funny things.

While reading Mouse Mess, at the end of the story when the mouse is in bed with an over sized stomach from eating too much food, they insisted that there was a baby in his tummy when I told them his stomach grew and grew because he was full.

Yesterday J signed "stomach fat". And I said, "Yes there's a baby inside". P signed "Baby" then signed "3??", I laughed so hard and said "no just one, one baby!"

14 week update

I just got back from my monthly checkup with the midwife group. We listened to the heartbeat and it sounded good. Turns out my sore rib is from pregnancy and just have deal with it. It really hurts, so that's easier in theory than in practice. My sonogram is scheduled for Dec 9th, not only will I be 1/2 way through the pregnancy we also get to find out the gender. So place your vote in our poll. :) I'm excited to start pregnant lady yoga. The woman who teaches it also is a doula and has childbirth classes. Plus it might help my rib. That's all for now. :) Pics by the end of the week.

12 weeks 4 days

Baby Belly

The kiddos at school are starting to figure out I'm pregnant. Two of my kids from last year finally figured out another Deaf Ed. teacher is pregnant, then were pointing to my belly. I poked it out a little more and said "what??" They both said baby. One of my first graders talked about the baby in my tummy today. Truly my bump is really tiny. But you can't hide anything about your appearance from a Deaf kid. So I'll make Russ take a baby belly pic and will post the ittty bitty bump.

A Mommy Blog???

As of now this blog has turned into a mommy blog!! We're expecting our first child, due May 1st 2010!!!! After reaching the end of the first trimester, we're announcing to the world our news. I hope this blog will mainly be used by friends and family who live far away to not miss a beat with this little one.
Only a few updates to post so far...
We found out we were pregnant on August 18th.
We heard the heartbeat on October 5th and it was a loud and clear 170 beats per minute. And everything looked great on my end.
My next appointment is on Nov. 2. I'm hoping they'll schedule a sonogram :)

What is style?

I have been feeding my addiction for vintage/flea market/shabby chic decorating with decorating books. I've gotten several off e-bay and picked up a few at the book store. I've always just looked at the pictures to get ideas, but this time I read them cover to cover. I was surprised at the nuggets of insight I came across. Some quotes worth sharing:

"Worn grandeur, the incomplete, the neglected, the crumbling, the cracked, the mismatched, the wrinkled. ..scuffed, chipped, imperfect, scratched moldings, discarded beauty, peeling paint." ~Rachel Ashwell

"A piece of china we use for dinner breaks. We are sorry to loose it , but because we eat off plates in a harmony of colors rather than a pattern that matches exactly, the piece will be replaced. The set of china will continue, slightly different , perhaps slightly richer. This reusing of the old , the worn, and the shabby allows objects to meet their natural fate" ~Rachel Ashwell

How can I have finacial peace?

A new adventure(?) awaits me. I'm starting the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace class at University Christian Church in FW. (Shameless promo I know.) Here's a few things I'm scared of...(insert Liz Lemmon exclamatory here.)
The cost effectiveness of paying for the only car I've ever bought with my own money.Yes, I love my brand new Honda Fit, but do I hate debt more?????
Again, do I love netflix, cable, internet more than I hate debt?
Can we as a couple hate debt as much as we should?
Communication skills that I have or don't have.
Starting a new small group.
Blerg. It makes me tired just thinking about it. This should be an interesting 13 weeks... Why 13, that's not a good sign of things to come.

Is she in denial?

The answer is yes. In denial that I do have a job, a hard one at that, and I do have to go back to work on Monday. In denial that at some point it is not socially acceptable to keep up Christmas decorations. In denial that I can't pack up and leave. In denial that I've had certain "Tabs" on my computer for much longer than Firefox ever intended you to save "tabs". In denial that my BFF really does want to move way too far away. In denial I may not always have my way.

"So this is the new year.
And i don't feel any different.
The clanking of crystal
Explosions off in the distance (in the distance).

So this is the new year
And I have no resolutions
For self assigned penance
For problems with easy solutions

So everybody put your best suit or dress on
Let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
As thirty dialogs bleed into one

I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then i could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
There'd be no distance that could hold us back." -Death Cab for Cutie
